Pruning Workshop

Date: 03/06/2014
Time: 1:00 p.m.   To  2:00 p.m.
Location: Visitor’s Center
Description: The Historic Rivers Chapter of Virginia Master Naturalist will give a talk about how, what, and when to prune native plants.  There will also be a hands on demonstration as the plants in the Native Plant Arboretum will get some needed care.  Bring your own pruning tools if you wish.  Please call for reservations.

 

Photography Walk

Date: 03/08/2014
Time: 8:00 a.m.   To  10:00 a.m.
Location: Visitor’s Center
Description: “Leave only footprints, take only photographs” during this ranger/photographer guided hike.  Capture images of interesting wildlife and inspiring landscapes.  Shutterbugs of all levels and all types of cameras are welcome.
The walks in January & February will take place at Croaker Landing at 7:00 a.m. to capture sunrise and waterfowl images.

 

Awesome Osprey Hike

Time: 10:00 a.m.   To  12:00 p.m.
Location: Visitor’s Center
Description: Our seasonal bird of prey returns to the Chesapeake Bay region.  This ranger guided hike highlights the Osprey’s role in the estuarine ecosystem.  Guests are encouraged to bring cameras and viewing gear.  Savor the view of these majestic birds feeding, nesting, and soaring along Taskinas Creek and the York River.

Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association Sunday Rides

Location: Contact Station
Description: Ride the mountain bike trails with the people who created and maintain them.  The Eastern Virginia Mountain Bike Association (http://evma.org) is a well known organization of biking enthusiast and welcome riders of all skill levels.
