Wine Bottle Art: “Stay at Home” Williamsburg’s Community Art Project

All Ages Welcome to Participate in this Community Art Project with Culturefix

Ok, so you are looking for something crafty and fun to do while being part of a bigger picture? Here is the perfect fun project: Stay at Home – Williamsburg Community Sculpture Project.

Culturefix is excited to announce a new project for everyone to enjoy. Since this pandemic has made it impossible for them to physically bring people together to enjoy music, culture and art at an event, they are bringing the fun to you. The plan is that people in the community will paint or decorate an empty wine bottle – bet you may have one of those laying around – but if not they have a bunch waiting for you to come pick up. They have empty wine bottles to pick up outside Spoke & Art Provisions Co. (3449 John Tyler Hwy) and Williamsburg Event Rentals (4403 Ironbound Rd). Just drive up and pick up an empty bottle, decorate then return it to one of these two locations and Voila! you will be part of this Community Art Sculpture. Last day to drop off is May 24th.

So how do you decorate your empty wine bottle…any way you like! If you’re an artist then go ahead and create a masterpiece. Or get out your paints and make it a family project. Anyone and everyone (of all ages) can create an artistic bottle.

Culturefix will then take every one of them and create a huge sculpture, a piece of public art for all of us to enjoy. It will be a place you can visit with family and friends, find your bottle and see how you were part of something much bigger.

Check their FB page because over the next week they will be posting pictures and videos of ideas to get your creative juices going. They will spell out all the details for you, where to get a bottle, what type of paints will work, where to drop off your finished product.

And to top it off, Muscarelle Museum’s Artist in Residence Steve Prince has agreed to work with us on this project. Now, since this is a project for all age groups… please spread the word – lets get lots of bottles so we can make a huge sculpture – art can bloom out of anything and during any crisis.
