Youth Events:

November 11 & 12 – Baby Lapsit Storytime Baby Lapsit Storytime is a storytime program especially for babies from birth to 18 months and their caregivers. This storytime includes 15 minutes of songs, fingerplays, and lap games.

November 11 & 12  Baby Stay and Play Stay after storytime to chat with other caregivers while your baby has fun with toys. On the first Monday and Tuesday of the month, experts from Child Development Resources will answer your questions about your baby’s development.

November 12 & 13 Toddler Storytime Toddler Storytime is a program designed for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years.

Tuesday, November 12 – Engineering with LEGO® Learn STEAM concepts, problem solving, and the engineering process while you build with LEGO® bricks, in another installment of our LEGO® Education SPIKE series. For ages 5-12; pick up a ticket at the children’s desk starting 30 minutes before the program to reserve your spot. 2 PM – James City County Library

Tuesday, November 12 – Learn to Play Chess Learn and practice this classic game. Recommended for beginners ages 6+. 5:30 PM – Williamsburg Library

Wednesday, November 13 – DIY Night: Make a Keychain Express your personality with a bit of bling for your bag! Come make a keychain using acrylic blanks, nail polish, and vinyl. For ages 7-12. 6 PM – James City County Library

Saturday, November 16 – Saturdays @ Frink: Who Ate the Hundred Thousand Dollar Chocolate Bar? Calling all detectives! Help us to find out who ate the Hundred Thousand Dollar Chocolate bar. Learn how to use crime scene investigation skills and old-fashioned detective work to solve the mystery. Identify the culprit and you too can win a $100,000 chocolate bar! 10 AM – 1 PM – Abram Frink Jr. Community Center

Saturday, November 16 – Preschool Dance party What do you get when you add balloons and bubbles to music? A fantastic preschool dance party! Put on your dancing shoes and join us for an exciting hour of songs, movement, rhymes, and just plain fun. Parents, it’s a great time for you to share your best moves with your little ones as well. Room capacity is limited; you may pick up tickets at the Stryker Center beginning 30 minutes before the program. 11 AM – Stryker Center

Saturday, November 16 – Sensory Movie: “IF” (2024) Enjoy a special movie screening in a sensory-friendly environment. The lights will be on, the movie volume turned down, and attendees are free to move around, and dance, walk, and sing. Fidgets and some inflatable chairs will be available. Enjoy some popcorn or bring your own snacks. This showing is geared toward those with special needs or young children, but everyone is welcome to attend. Sunday, November 17 – Beanbag Book Club Join us for our youngest book club! There’s no requirement to attend every meeting and new participants are welcome any time. This month we’ll read, craft, and play games around the book Kung Pow Chicken: Let’s Get Cracking by Cyndi Marko. Includes a copy of the book to keep. Space is limited; pick up a free ticket at the Youth Services desk beginning 30 minutes before the program begins. For ages 5 – 8.  1:30 PM – Williamsburg Library

Daily – Come Play at the Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio! Come in from the cold to the James City County Library. Play in a vibrant, engaging area that focuses on the twin literacy skills of reading and play. The Kiwanis Kids Idea Studio integrates our collection with children’s museum-style elements including air tubes, an interactive floor, a giant tablet table, and more! James City County Library

DailyStory Trail Take a walk outdoors and read a story at the James City County Library’s Story Trail. We invite families to walk from page to page in the green space behind the library. All Day – James City County Library

Saturday, November 16 – Super Smash Bros. Tournament Go head-to-head in a Super Smash Bros. tournament. No registration required, for ages 9-18. Latecomers cannot be guaranteed a spot in the tournament. 2-4:30 PM – Williamsburg Library

Daily Teen Room at the James City County Library Check out the brand-new teen room at the James City County Library! This room features fun tech including virtual reality headsets, Nintendo Switches, an arcade game table, and lounge seating. For ages 13-18.

Tuesday, November 12- If This Be Treason…Dressing the Liberty Pole in 1774 Fellow Citizens hark to the meeting of the County Committee of Safety and join us in a debate over the County Resolves and the 1774 Articles of Association. In 1774, citizens of Virginia were divided between those who wished to stay loyal to the King of England and those who wished to rebel against the Crown over the taxes on tea and other imported goods. Are you for or against the declared boycott? Join us for a slice of colonial politics as we explore our shared colonial history. 6 PM – Williamsburg Library

Thursday, November 14 – Talking Books How does your book group work? Does your book group work? Join Readers’ Services librarian Andrew Smith to talk about ways to read together, how to make the most of your time, and how other book groups run their discussions. Saturday, November 16 – 3D Printing 101 Learn the basics of 3D printing and all the ways it’s being used from medical devices to homes! For ages 13+. No registration required. 10 AM – Williamsburg Library

Saturday, November 16 – Dewey Decibel Concert Series: Jae Sennett Trio Jae Sinnett’s Trio, featuring Weldon Hill playing piano and Terry Burrell on bass, returns to the theater for a performance of swinging jazz standards, selections from the American songbook, and some toe-tapping originals. Jae has played at WRL with his groups regularly for more than 30 years. Enjoy a great night of jazz just in time for the holidays. Tickets: $5 (Friends of WRL $4). Sunday, November 17 – Beginning Crochet Join members of the Williamsburg Knitting Guild for basic instruction on crochet. For ages 13+. No registration required. 2 PM – James City County Library

Makerspace Open! Check out our new creative space at the Williamsburg Library. Explore 3D printers, Glowforge 3D laser printer, Cricut, and sewing machines during walk-in hours. Read more about the Makerspace. Walk-in hours: Mon-Thurs: 1-5 PM, Sat & Sun: 1-5 PM on the 4th weekend of the month.
