Virginia Regional Ballet Wins 2022 Business Appreciation Award
Mayor Douglas Pons presented co-founder Adelle Carpenter with the award during the City Council meeting on Thursday, June 9, 2022. The award recognizes City businesses whose hard work and dedication make the City of Williamsburg a better place to live, work, and visit.
Heidi Robitshek, former artistic director and founder of the Chamber Ballet, and her protégée Carpenter founded the Virginia Regional Ballet in 2007 with a purpose to bring to the community and develop among its citizens an educational and cultural program in dance.
Professionally trained instructors teach a variety of dance forms, such as classical ballet, contemporary, character, creative dance, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop, and lyrical dance, as well as adaptive dance for students with disabilities. Virginia Regional Ballet offers scholarships, as well as free dance classes in the summer where free lunch is also provided, for students who lack the resources to attend. Virginia Regional Ballet also produces several ballet performances each year, including the annual Nutcracker Ballet.
Virginia Regional Ballet is located at 1228 Richmond Road. For more information on Virginia Regional Ballet, visit dancevrb.com.
