Veteran’s Day and Weekend Events at Colonial Williamsburg – November 8-11

All active duty Military, Reservists, Retirees, Veterans, National Guardsmen and their immediate dependents will still receive free admission to the Historic Area during this Veterans Day Weekend from November 8-11 as part of our partnership with the Home Depot Foundation.


Colonial Williamsburg Veteran’s Day and Weekend Events

The birthplace of our Nation celebrates Veterans on November 11 and throughout the year. On this special day there are several events focused on Veterans Day. You can see all of their events by visiting Colonial Williamsburg’s Calendar here.

Veterans Day Proclamation
Palace Green
November 11, 2024 from 10 – 11 am

Our Veterans Day programming begins at 10 a.m. with a ceremony on Palace Green honoring the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. This stirring tribute is presented In partnership with the Williamsburg Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Learn more



A Veterans Day Salute & Procession
Duke of Gloucester Street
November 11, 2024 from 3:30 – 4:30 pm

An afternoon march and ceremony honoring America’s veterans feature the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums, Military Programs staff, and an address of gratitude to Williamsburg community veterans by Mrs. Washington, starting at Capitol Circle and concluding with a commemoration ceremony behind the Courthouse on Market Square. All armed forces veterans are welcome and encouraged to participate.  Learn more


Salute to the Heroes

November 11, 2024 from 4:40 – 5 pm

To conclude Colonial Williamsburg’s Veterans Day observance, a lone bagpiper plays iconic selections from the Governor’s Palace in a heartfelt tribute to honor those men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. More information
