🩹 Three Free Clinics & Rapid COVID Testing – Friday Nov 5 & Sat Nov 6 – appointments required

Celebrate Healthcare will host three free clinics Friday and Saturday on the Peninsula where adults and children (ages 5-11) can get Covid-19 vaccinations. The clinics will also offer rapid Covid testing and open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace. The events will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Temple, 3100 Butternut Drive in Hampton; from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Ave. in Newport News; and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Boo Williams Sportsplex, 5 Armistead Pointe Parkway in Hampton. For more information, call 757-827-0277.The Hampton Peninsula Community Vaccination Clinic (13785 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News) has also begun offering vaccinations for children ages 5-11. The clinic is open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., with the last appointment each evening at 7:30 p.m. Appointments are required and can be made online at vaccinate.virginia.gov or by phone at 877-829-4682.

🩹Virginia Department of Health Opening Community Vaccination Center in Newport News

Community Vaccination Clinic Offering Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine for Children Ages 5-11 (by appointment only)

On Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, the Hampton Peninsula Community Vaccination Clinic (CVC) will begin to offer the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration. 

 The Hampton Peninsula CVC is located at 13785 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA in the former Ferguson Building in the Sherwood Shopping Center.  The CVC operates Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the last appointment at 7:30 pm.  Vaccinations for children 5-11 are by appointment only. Appointments can be made on line at vaccinate.virginia.gov or by calling 877-VAX-IN-VA (877-829-4682).

Boosters are also available to individuals who received the second dose of  Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 or Moderna vaccine or a first dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine six or more months ago and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Are 65 years and older 
  • 18 and above with underlying medical conditions
  • Live or work in a high risk setting (ex: healthcare workers, first responders, teachers, educational staff, grocery store employees, postal employees, and others)

First (1st) and second (2nd) doses are also available. Appointments are encouraged.

Everyone 5 years and older is eligible to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and Hampton &  Peninsula Health Districts encourage all Virginians to get their vaccination if they haven’t already done so. For more information on COVID-19 in Virginia, visit vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus.

🩹The Virginia Department of Health will open a state-run community vaccination clinic at the former Macy’s Department Store location at Military Circle Mall, 880 N. Military Highway in Norfolk.

Any Virginian 65 years and older, or those 18 and above who have underlying medical conditions or live or work in a high-risk setting, and who received the second dose of their Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago can make an appointment for a free booster vaccination. In addition, those who need their first or second dose of any Covid-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna or Johnson and Johnson), or those who are immunosuppressed and need a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine may also receive them at no cost at the Norfolk site.

While appointments are encouraged, walk-ins will also be accepted. The clinic will offer vaccination appointments 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Anyone who has received a prior Covid-19 vaccine should bring their vaccination card or their vaccination record using a QR code.
