Three Rivers & Three Peoples Hike – Jan. 18, 2016 at York River State Park
Jan. 18, 2016, 10 am – 12 noon
York River State Park
9801 York River Park Road Williamsburg VA 23188
This hike honors the shared history of African, European, and Native Americans who made their homes along the Mattaponi, Pamunkey, and York Rivers. The hike will be along the Woodstock Pond and Mattaponi Trails which are rated as easy. However, there is a section of the Mattaponi Trail that is not handicap accessible and will be a challenge for children in strollers. We will stop at certain points along the trails, in particular those that highlight the of the history of Taskinas Plantation (the colonial name for where our park is located) and other areas of historic significance. Of course, if something unique in the natural world captures our attention, we will share about that as well.
