The Virginia Symphony Orchestra FREE Concerts
The Virginia Symphony Orchestra will continue the family-friendly summer tradition of offering free outdoor concerts. The VSO will perform ‘Once Upon a Symphony’ in Williamsburg at Lake Matoaka Amphitheater on Friday, August 30 and in Yorktown at Riverwalk Landing on Saturday, August 31.
‘Once Upon a Symphony’, will explore the connection between music and storytelling as the Virginia Symphony Orchestra fills the night air with some of the most treasured orchestral works inspired by literature, film, fairy tales, and more! Be transported by stories from Swan Lake to Man of La Mancha and adventures from Superman to Indiana Jones!
Lake Matoaka Amphitheater – Friday, August 30, 2024 at 7:30 pm This event has been postponed due to weather until Friday Sept 6 at 7:30 pm
Enjoy selections from famous fairy tales & films, in this intimate venue under the stars overlooking Lake Matoka.
Riverwalk Landing in Yorktown – Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 7:30 pm
Pack a picnic, bring a lawn chair or blanket, and listen to the beautiful music of this award-winning symphony. The Fifes and Drums of York Town will perform at the beginning of this event.
Because this performance draws such a large crowd, visitors are encouraged to arrive early and keep in mind the following important traffic reminders:
- Parking is available in the two-level parking terrace on Water Street, with handicapped parking located on the lower level.
- Additional parking can be found at York Hall, County Administration Building, York County Courts & Office Complex, and other designated lots throughout town. For this evening only, guests may also park at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown beginning at 5 p.m.
- To ease the flow of traffic, no loading of any equipment, chairs, coolers, etc. into vehicles will be permitted during or at the conclusion of the concert at the corners of Water and Ballard Streets and Water and Buckner Streets.
