In the holiday spirit, Monitor experts will discuss discovering, excavating, and conserving Monitor’s flatware and other food-related items. This presentation will include never-before-seen pictures of artifacts undergoing conservation as well as personal accounts from sailors who ate a variety of different foods aboard the ironclad. Around the World With Santa

Bring the family and participate in make-and-take crafts and learn about traditions from around the world plus a special visit from Santa! Every December 24, Santa makes his epic journey around the world. But on Saturday, December 7, he’s inviting children to The Mariners’ Museum to “travel” with him as he makes his annual dry-run of his trip. Children will fill in their special Around the World with Santa passport as they learn about different countries and make crafts from continents around the world. Maritime Monday: Penguin Parade

Children ages 18-month to pre-school, and their adults, are invited to join us each second Monday of the month for an hour and a half of stories, music, crafts and other activities. This month, travel to Antarctica and learn about penguins. We’ll play penguin games and make a penguin craft. Pre-registration is encouraged. Holiday Concert – US Fleet Forces Woodwind and Brass Quintet

The Mariners’ Museum invites you to ring in the holiday season with the U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Band Holiday Concert. The Band’s Woodwind Quintet and Brass Quintet I will perform a mix of light holiday classics and songs. You won’t want to miss this enchanted evening designed to get you in the holiday mood.
Established in 1945, the United States Fleet Force Band serves as the Navy’s musical ambassador for the Hampton Roads. Led by Lt. C.S. White, the Band regularly participates in significant national and international events and has performed with many renowned artists, including Lee Greenwood, Harry Connick, Jr., the Spinners, Chuck Mangione, and Marvin Hamlisch.
