Summer Reading Kick Off Party

Sunday, June 16, 2024 from 1-4pm
An all ages event
Williamsburg Library Plaza – 515 Scotland St. Williamsburg 23185

The Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL) invites the community to join the fun at the Summer Reading Kickoff celebration from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, June 16, at the Williamsburg Library.

Summer Reading for Children:

This year’s theme is Summer Road Trip! Participants can register at either library location or on Beanstack, WRL’s online summer reading tool. Readers will use Beanstack to log their books, and they earn points for reading, writing book reviews, and completing activities on the website.

Beginning June 16th, come to either library each week to check in, tell us about what you’ve been reading, and pick up prizes.

Kids, birth – rising 3rd grade: Stamp your road trip scrapbook and earn coupons weekly, and get a Golden Ticket for Free Book Week for reaching your goal! (Alternate prizes are available for babies.)

Tweens, rising 4th-8th grade: Earn prizes each week, get a Golden Ticket for Free Book Week for reaching your goal, and participate in ticket drawings for even more prizes!

Everyone who registers for the kids’ or tweens’ program gets a free book to keep during Free Book Week, August 4-10 — and Golden Ticket holders get 2!

Summer Reading for Teens

Teens who participate in this year’s Summer Reading will receive a small prize for every 2 books read starting June 17. Special gift card for completing six books by August 11. See our Beanstack page (wrl.beanstack.org) or the paper logs at the adult service desk for more information.

Summer Reading for Adults

It’s time to have Fun in the Sun with the adult summer reading program! Adults can register with paper reading logs or online with Beanstack to participate. Adults can log up to four books per log with a maximum of two completed logs to be turned in for a prize. Each log earns one entry for our monthly Grand Prize drawings. Starting June 17, adults can come to Adult Services or to the Mobile Library Services stops to turn in their log.

Kids enjoy the Summer Reading Kickoff event and other summer activities at Williamsburg Regional Library.

The event launches WRL’s Summer Reading program, which aims to combat the summer reading slide through fun reading challenges and events. Summer Reading programs for all ages run from June 1 through August 31. Find out more about the kickoff event on the WRL website at www.wrl.org/events to learn more about the Summer Reading program, go to www.wrl.org/summer-reading/.
