York County Parks and Recreation Special Recreation Camp – June 24-July 19, 2013
Dates: Monday through Friday, June 24 through July 19 (Closed – July 4)
Times: 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Eligibility: Children of York County, 6 years of age and older with disabilities
Cost: Residents $200 per child for 4-week program; Non-Residents $300 per child for 4-week program
Registration: Begins – Monday, May 13 for Residents and May 20 for non-residents. (The camp has the maximum capacity of 25) Registration is required for this program and is accepted on a first come, first serve basis. For additional information please call 757-890-3500.
General Information.York County’s Special Recreation Camp is a summer program designed to provide a variety of enjoyable recreational opportunities for youth with disabilities and/or special needs. The program fee includes fun activities, weekly themes, arts and crafts, special visitors, field trips, swimming days, games and movies. Registration is limited.
Field Trips. Our field trips will be listed on an activity calendar distributed prior to the first day of camp. The Special Recreation Camp site will not be open on field trip days. Parents are welcome to attend field trips; however, they must provide their own transportation and pay all fees associated with the trip. In case of inclement weather on outdoor field trip days, participants should call 757-890-3501 prior to 9:00 am for cancellation information.
Transportation. Attempts will be made to provide transportation to Bethel Manor Elementary School for as many children as possible. However, all Non-County participants must provide their own transportation.
Waivers. The Board of Supervisors has authorized a fee waiver for this program for any child whose family falls within the federal guidelines for Food Stamp Eligibility Limits applicable to York County. A copy of your Food Stamp Card is required with the registration form in order to qualify for this fee waiver.
