STEM Virtual Home Lab Logo

If you are looking for some at home science projects to learn-tertain your kids during the stay at home mandate – this online series is great. Don’t worry if you miss the real-time event – they post past events with recorded videos – it’s free and fun. We call that a win, win.

STEM FAMILIES Virtual Home Lab is a series of workshops to share practical tips, virtual experiments and other concrete tools that families – even those with little time, few resources and no STEM exposure or teaching experience – can use to engage their children’s learning.

STEM education leaders from across the country will offer a variety of activities for different age groups to engage students in STEM learning with resources that you have around the house.

Most of our families have been practicing social distancing for weeks and getting over the boredom hump is, no doubt, a challenge in many households. Exploring Sound With NASA

Kids are experts in turning basic household items into innovative and useful tools. During these challenging times, the fear of running out of resources is very real for several families, but we can help you make learning possible by reusing what you have at home to explore the topic of sound.

We have partnered with our friends at NASA to walk you through an experiment that will allow your children to learn how to amplify and reduce sound using your cell phone and a few household items.

This activity is part of a webinar series, STEM FAMILIES of STEM@Home™. Our goal is to support families and communities during challenging times and feature resources that help families keep learning going for their children while school and out-of-school activities are suspended.

The STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice is a global network of STEM leaders that learn and share with one another. We are proud to release STEM@Home with the strength of our network.
