King’s Arms Tavern honors Abby Fisher, one of America’s first published Black female authors, with a special menu inspired by her 1881 cookbook, What Mrs. Fisher Knows About Old Southern Cooking. Guests can enjoy flavorful dishes like Oyster Gumbo, Crab Salad, and Fried Chicken, bringing the rich tastes of history to life. Executive Chef Julianne Gutierrez has crafted a menu to pay tribute to her. Begin with alligator bites, inspired by the iconic alligator-skin purse she famously carried. Executive Chef Julianne Gutierrez has created a menu to honor Dr. Lee’s commitment to nourishment and sustainability. Start with a fresh, farm-inspired salad, reflecting the community farm she founded at 92. The main course features cornmeal-crusted blue catfish, a tribute to her Texas roots and the dish named in her honor at Bonton Farms.
