Safety Town is a government and community partnership designed to teach young children various aspects of life safety. Through the use of age-appropriate, hands-on interactive experiences, children enjoy learning lifesaving behaviors and practices that can help reduce the chance of serious injury.

Safety Town provides a safe and interesting learning environment that is set up to simulate an actual town. The Safety Town site features mock buildings, sidewalks and streets, and is used as a practice area for the safety lessons.

During the summer of 2014, York County’s Safety Town program will host its 20th season. Two hundred children attend Safety Town over the summer.

Safety Town is a five-day, Monday through Friday, program that begins at 9:00 am and ends at 11:30 am. Various organizations and agencies will provide the daily safety lessons and activities.

Each day, Safety Town will focus on a different safety topic.  All lessons and activities relate to the safety skills topic of the day.
