Yorktown Trolley Service

The FREE Yorktown Trolley will begin its 16th year of service on Friday, March 18, and operate daily through October 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours of 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.

Though meant to create a nostalgic, old-world feel with their mahogany and brass trimmings, the trolleys are equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, televisions, and more. The trolleys are ADA compliant, featuring wheelchair access and a talking bus stop announcement system that accommodates both the hearing and visually impaired. The county currently operates three trolleys, all purchased mainly with state and federal grant money, which can transport up to 28 seated and 19 standing passengers at a time. The trolley transports nearly 90,000 passengers throughout Yorktown during its operation season.

The trolleys provide convenience and a break.  Visitors can ride in the free air-conditioned trolleys during peak times in the summer months and during events held on the waterfront.

The trolley route begins at the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center and makes stops at the Victory Monument, Historic Main Street, Riverwalk Landing, and the Watermen’s Museum, among others, on its way to the Yorktown Victory Center on the other side of town.  The trolley’s circuitous route is approximately 20-25 minutes long.

For more information about the Yorktown Trolley, visit www.visityorktown.org.
