Ring in the Holidays with the Virginia Handbell Consort – Dec. 11
Virginia Handbell Consort
Williamsburg Presbyterian Church
215 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA
December 11th at 7:00 p.m
Williamsburg Presbyterian Church is proud to welcome the Virginia Handbell Consort (VHC) for a concert of holiday favorites. This is a free concert and perfect for all ages!
VHC is an advanced community handbell ensemble, consisting of auditioned musicians from across Hampton Roads. They seek to advance the art of ringing through performances year-round, commissioning new music, and hosting workshops and seminars. The group recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary, over which time it has released seven recordings and traveled extensively. Holiday performances feature a mix of well-known seasonal pieces; both sacred and secular, exciting and introspective. Learn more about VHC at vhcbells.org.
“We have not performed in Williamsburg in some time, and are looking forward to seeing old friends and introducing new acquaintances to the art of advanced handbell ringing,” explains director Al Reese. “This season’s concert features Leroy Anderson’s classic A Christmas Festival, a stunning rendition of O Little Town of Bethlehem, with a dash of Elvis thrown in. We know everyone will leave with a smile on their face and a bounce in their step.”
