This family goes all out for the holidays! If you’ve experienced The Pointe at Jamestown’s Halloween traditions, you’re likely familiar with their famous fried Oreos served to trick-or-treaters and their families. So, it’s no surprise that they also host one of the most dazzling Christmas displays in the area. We had the chance to chat with Melissa, the family’s go-to PR person since we began featuring them in our Shimmer & Shine, Best Christmas Lights, and Spectacular Lights list and map!

1. How long does it usually take you to set up your holiday lights display?

We always start November 1st. It usually takes about 3 weeks to get everything fully setup and running.

2. What inspired you to go all-out with holiday lights? Was there a specific moment or idea that sparked this tradition?

It all started about 9 years ago with a blow up frosty. Then our neighborhood did a neighborhood light contest and it was our time to shine. We lit up every inch we could with lights. We started with just the old blow molds you can find on marketplace and have been collecting new items since.

3. How many years have you been decorating with more lights than the average home?

9 years

4.Who takes charge of the decorating process? Is it a family effort, or do you do it solo?

It’s definitely a family effort.

5. Do you have a theme or special inspiration behind this year’s display?

Not necessarily a theme, but we always just aim to spread as much joy and love and possible.

6. Are there any unique or standout decorations in your display that have a special story behind them that you want people to know?

Our giving tree is one of our favorite pieces. We spend a good part of the year 3d printing special ornaments for everyone that visits.

7. What’s the reaction been like from your neighbors or the community?

We have received so many thank yous and compliments. It fills our hearts with so much joy to see how happy people are driving by. And sorry to all the parents in the neighborhood that are forced to go out of their way on the way home to drive by our house!

8. Have you added any new features or special touches to your display this year?

Our Christmas Village and our window projector scene with our fried Oreo and hot chocolate characters are definitely our favorite new pieces.

9. What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking of starting a big holiday lights tradition of their own? (tips or tricks)

Just have fun and be creative! And stalk Facebook marketplace!

10.  Will you be decorating next year?

Absolutely!
