Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps performs at Berkeley Plantation

PlymouthBerkeley Plantation is proud to host the performance of the Plymouth Fife and Drum Corps.  The corps is made up of 40 – 50 students ranging from ages 12-18.  Its members are dedicated to preserving the ancient arts of color guard, fifing and drumming with emphasis on music played during the Revolutionary War.

Berkeley is the site of the first official Thanksgiving in America, home of the Harrison’s, Benjamin Harrison, signer of the Declaration of Independence and William H. Harrison, ninth U.S. president.  Taps was first played  at Berkeley during the Civil War when General McClellan’s Union army occupied the plantation during the summer of 1862.  Tour guides in period costumes conduct tours of the 1726 Georgian mansion from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The cost is $11.00 per adult, $6.00 per child (ages 6-12) and $7.50 per student (ages 13-16).
