Mid County Park Now has Petanque/Bocce Courts!
Mid County Park petanque courts open
There are two more ways to play at James City County’s Mid County Park! A petanque/bocce court is now available at the park, constructed through the volunteer efforts of the Mid County Park Petanque Group. The County provided court space and construction materials and Group members spent a week building the courts and will also maintain them.
Petanque can be played by two teams of 1, 2, 3 or 4 players. Metal balls, known as boules, are thrown with the goal of placing them closest to the target.
The petanque courts are available to the public during regular park hours and players should bring their own boules and equipment. If you prefer to play with the Group, petanque games are held twice weekly, every Thursday and Sunday at 2 p.m. For those wanting to try out the game, there will be instruction and extra boules available. Mid County Park is located at 3793 Ironbound Rd.
