$100 if currently serving on the Board of one of our current nonprofit members.

Class (must be present for the entire 6-hour training):

Friday, October 2 – 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location: EVB, 11801 Merchants Walk, Newport News

The Nonprofit Board Training Series is designed to develop leaders who can help nonprofits make an impact on the community and strengthen nonprofit Boards with knowledgeable, productive, committed members. Since 2010, we have provided training to 119 community members. As a result, we have been able to match local nonprofits up with trained Board members who are ready to serve.

They are ready and willing to lead in their roles and responsibilities, in part, because this board training prepared them appropriately for the advantages and challenges that lie ahead in their new non-profit positions. We’d be hard pressed to find another local entity that provides such depth of study to board member candidates. “

Upon completion of this 1-day, 6 hour class, you will:

Learn how you can ensure that your time and talents are being used effectively to help others.
Understand the fiduciary, legal, and ethical responsibilities of serving on a nonprofit Board.
Identify how your skills can best be used to help area nonprofits.
Gain a better understanding of the role the Board plays in fundraising.
Know how to maximize your service to the community by meeting goals that will help a nonprofit move forward.
Experience the satisfaction of having the tools needed to be a committed, productive Board member.
