Local Scouts offer Christmas tree recycling pick up
Members of Scouts BSA troops 300 and 20 are collecting Christmas trees for recycling through James City County. They will collect your tree and have it recycled for a $10 charge. Collected trees will be mulched, so no artificial or flocked trees will be accepted.
This year they’ve opened their collection efforts to all of James City County for this event. They ask that you have your tree curbside by 0800 on the morning of Jan 7th. They’ll make sure a crew comes by at some point that weekend to pick your tree up.
· Sign up for curbside pickup either online (http://tinyurl.com/TreeCrunch) or by calling 757-585-3376. Trees must be on the curb by 8 a.m. on January 7, 2022.
The two local Scouts BSA troops are accepting donations of $10 per tree to support their camping, leadership, character and citizenship programs. Donations can be made when signing up online or left in a waterproof envelope tied to the tree. Check donations should be payable to Scouts BSA Troop 20.
Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting experience for youth in the fifth grade through high school. Service, community engagement and leadership development become increasingly important parts of the program as youth lead their own activities and work their way toward earning Scouting’s highest rank, Eagle Scout.
