Light and Native Plants Nov. 15 2014
November 15: LIGHT AND NATIVE PLANTS. On Saturday, November 15th at 10:00 a.m., Dr. Stewart Ware, Professor Emeritus of Biology at the College of William and Mary, will provide an informative talk about sunlight and native plants. Dr. Ware has received numerous awards and is widely published in peer-reviewed literature on topics involving biology and dendrology. We know all plants need light, but the amount of shade they can tolerate and the amount of full sunlight they can bear determine where plants can grow as well as what plants grow together. Learn about this as well as the special adaptations leaves can develop for capturing sunlight in deep shade. This presentation is being held at Freedom Park Interpretive Center in Williamsburg and is open to the public. A $5.00 donation is requested. For more information, please contact Stewart Ware at 757-565-0657 or saware@wm.edu.
