Just need ONE fun thing a day to do? Not 100 virtual events?

one-fun-thing-a-day..williamsburg-families

Just one fun thing today please! Your daily virtual event.

It is actually to the point that there may be too many virtual streaming events. I can’t believe I am saying that but we run an events site and we have gone from canceling every event to repopulating the calendar with tons of virtual events from zoos, museums, theatres and government agencies like NASA.

It is really an amazing time to learn but it can be overwhelming since most of us are homeschooling our children for the first time and working from home. Oh, and when have we ever hung out this much together….all good things…but we need things to be simplified…even our fun.

So here is a daily post of just one thing you can watch or do. We will keep each prior day’s events up too, so if you visit one day and think…”meh, I don’t like that one thing,” you can scroll down to the prior day’s activity. We still have till June 10th so we will have a lot of options soon! For a full like of virtual events visit our calendar or our virtual events category.

Wine Bottle Art: “Stay at Home” Williamsburg’s Community Art Project

All Ages Welcome to Participate in this Community Art Project with Culturefix

Ok, so you are looking for something crafty and fun to do while being part of a bigger picture? Here is the perfect fun project: Stay at Home – Williamsburg Community Sculpture Project.

Culturefix is excited to announce a new project for everyone to enjoy. Since this pandemic has made it impossible for them to physically bring people together to enjoy music, culture and art at an event, they are bringing the fun to you. The plan is that people in the community will paint or decorate an empty wine bottle – bet you may have one of those laying around – but if not they have a bunch waiting for you to come pick up. They have empty wine bottles to pick up outside Spoke & Art Provisions Co. (3449 John Tyler Hwy) and Williamsburg Event Rentals (4403 Ironbound Rd). Just drive up and pick up an empty bottle, decorate then return it to one of these two locations and Voila! you will be part of this Community Art Sculpture.

If you have ever visited York River State Park or attended our Williamsburg Annual Summer Camp Fair in Williamsburg you have probably met Park Ranger John Gresham. He is the ultimate supporter of getting outside and exploring nature and while we are all stuck at home he is bringing the York River to us. His videos are short but very informative and will give you some topics for conversation in the house. Remember, you can still visit York River State Park – it is open – just not the offices – and remember to social distance. He has three videos so far but here is one for your One Fun Thing on Blue Crabs!
