Consulting Chef needed at WJCC Schools

Job Description:  Hiring Consulting Chef to improve the preparation, production and presentation of school meals.  This individual will provide culinary expertise to school cafeteria management and staff  through advising, assisting, training, and demonstration.  We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic person with knowledge of innovative preparation and production techniques such as incorporating locally grown, school garden and/or seasonal ingredients, speed-scratch cooking methods, using herbs and seasonings to lower sodium content, and whole grains and meatless meals.

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Culinary degree or certification, with a minimum of two years of culinary schooling.
ServSafe certification.
Preferred: six years culinary experience, including three years successful supervisory experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of industry standards regarding sanitation, management, and nutrition.
Ability to maintain written and automated records, such as production sheets and recipes files.
Knowledge of and ability to use personal computer applications to include email, spreadsheets, graphics, and word processing.
The ideal candidate has knowledge of the National School Lunch Program meal pattern requirements.
The ideal candidate has quantity food production experience.
The majority of the work will be performed in the school cafeteria environment.
Must be flexible and willing to travel between schools and division administrative offices.
Occasional evening and weekend work required.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Required to wear uniform and maintain standards of personal hygiene.

This position is grant funded on an annual basis.  Work period is September 2013 to May 2014 (36 weeks).  Work hours are 16 hours per week.  Position offers an hourly wage and does not include benefits.
