How to make an Easter Egg Tree with your kids!

How to create your own Easter Egg Tree with your kids!
by Olivia Bada

Start a new tradition this Easter, make your family’s Easter Egg Tree.  A simple easy way to celebrate the season, decorate with a little nature and a lot of love.  My mother started our Easter Egg Tree in 1975 in San Mateo, California.  We like to claim she was the first to create an Easter Egg Tree.  And when she created her’s each year,  she would carefully punch a small hole in each egg and we would blow the raw egg out.   This was not easy and made for really sore cheeks; it is hard to blow an egg out of its shell, seriously.

Now that my kids and I create an Easter Egg Tree each year we use cute decorative Easter eggs from Micheal’s or other craft stores on our tree.  Then we hot glue looped ribbon to the top of the eggs, so that they will hang from the branches. The kids grab a couple twigs from the back yard, and remove all leaves.  We put the twigs in a vase with floral foam.  We use rick-rack to decorate the vase and hang our eggs.  Since reuse the decorative eggs each year, our tree takes just minutes to set up.

I hope your family enjoys this project.  My kids and I set ours up this year in less than 20 minutes – including the two of them finding the branch in the back yard.  It is one of my favorite memories from Easter’s of my childhood and I think my kids will continue the tradition when they have families of their own.  I hope you and your family enjoy this one! Happy Easter!
