TWO HOLIDAY COCKTAILS TO BE THANKFUL FOR THIS YEAR

When it comes to a Thanksgiving feast, the cocktail selection can be just as important as the turkey. Sometimes it’s central to the meal. Here are two cocktails to add to your holiday menu from Regency Room Guest Services Manager Drew Zywick.

AUTUMN COBBLER

This one is for the pumpkin-everything fans. Are you the first to jump at those pumpkin spice lattes and M&Ms? You’ll love the Autumn Cobbler cocktail, which incorporates a pumpkin spice syrup. Stir it up with bourbon and citrus and you’re sure to knock it out of the park with your family and friends.

AUTUMN COBBLER
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz sherry
  • 0.5 oz pumpkin spice syrup
  • 1 slice orange
  • 1 slice lemon
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Pack glass with ice.
  2. Add syrup and spirits.
  3. Stir and serve.

We make our own pumpkin spice syrup in house. Here’s the recipe so you can, too!

PUMPKIN SPICE SYRUP
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 4 Tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 quart water
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Mix all ingredients in a medium pot.
  2. Simmer over medium heat, stirring until all sugar dissolves, about 10 minutes.
  3. Turn off heat and let cool.
  4. Strain through chinois or cheesecloth in a sealable plastic container.
  5. Label, date, and refrigerate.

KENTUCKY ORCHARD

If you’re like me, you love anything involving bourbon and ginger. As soon as Drew told me this had two of my favorite ingredients on top of another of my favorite beverages (apple cider), I was ready to be the guinea pig. This is a great ending to your Thanksgiving meal as you’re watching the football game.

KENTUCKY ORCHARD
INGREDIENTS
  • 1.5 oz bourbon
  • 0.5 oz ginger syrup
  • 3 oz apple cider
  • 2 dashes angostura
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Add all ingredients into a martini shaker with ice.
  2. Shake to mix.
  3. Pour into double old-fashioned glass.
