One mile fun run/walk at 8:30am and
8K run/walk at 9:00 am
This will be the 5th annual ovarian cancer run/walk which raises money to fund Grants for ovarian cancer screening and testing and to underwrite education about the disease. Our first four runs/walks resulted in the award of $69,000 in Medical Services Grants to the Lackey Free Family Clinic and the Olde Towne Medical Center for their ovarian cancer screening and testing programs.
In the last 15 months, 7 women have been diagnosed and successfully treated for the disease. These programs have been financed in large part by our Grants. Additionally $6,000 in scholarships was awarded for students pursuing a career in the medical profession.
