Got Holiday Stress? Mix It Up!
The holidays are here! It is that time of year for fun times and excitement! Along with the fun and excitement there is often craziness and stress but only if you let it happen.
Take that walk, or a quick run (maybe 30-45 minutes), even 15 minutes of exercise will do you wonders. It really does not have to be long, just give yourself that little bit of time to “de-stress” and sort things out. As a result you are able to enjoy the special times that come with this time of year.
Do not become frustrated with the weather as it gets colder and the days are shorter. Know that it is good for your body to do some “cross training”. Which means that you mix the types of exercising you do. One day you could go running, the next swimming, then biking (outside or stationary). Even fitness classes on tapes or at local fitness centers around town are great, the elliptical machine is a good one too. There are so many choices.
Mixing up your workouts will help to prevent injuries that occur by putting the same stress on one point of your body consistently, (example: swimming everyday and over using your shoulder or running too much and injuring your legs). By adding swimming to your routine or a fitness class that is in the water or out, you will use the other muscles and still be exercising. Adding variety can also help you to be able to stay motived.
Mix it up! It is all about having fun, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, feeling better about yourself and ultimately becoming the best person that you were created to be.
Live your Life to the fullest. Enjoy your family & friends and where you are during this “season” of your life.
