Fire Safety Week 2014 Events – Meet firefighters, Sparky the Fire Dog, tour the Firehouse and more!
The York County Department of Fire & Life Safety will be hosting and participating in the following activities during Fire Prevention Week to promote that “Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives!,” as well as fire and life safety for all ages.
Fire and Rescue Apparatus Displays:
• Saturday, October 4th:
o Home Depot (6700 Mooretown Rd.) from 9:00 a.m. – Noon
o Kmart (5007 Victory Blvd.) from 9:00 a.m. – Noon
o 1st Advantage FCU (110 Cybernetics Way) from Noon – 2:00 p.m.
o Kmart (118 Waller Mill Rd.) from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Fire Station Open Houses:
Meet the first responders and Sparky the Fire dog, tour the fire station and the Safe House, have some refreshments, learn about fire & life safety, and enjoy the activities with the whole family!
• Sunday, October 5th from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
o Grafton Fire Station 1 (5751 Geo. Washington Mem. Hwy., 23692)
• Saturday, October 11th 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
o Bruton Fire Station 3 (114 Hubbard Lane, 23188)
Through these educational, family-oriented events, residents can learn more about the importance of working smoke alarms and testing them monthly.
