In collaboration BikeWalkWilliamsburg and the Williamsburg Police Department presents Fall Bicycle Rodeo! As Fall sets in, BikeWalk Williamsburg wants to ensure that students can safely enjoy riding their bicycles in their neighborhoods through the crisp air. BikeWalk Williamsburg will provide bicycle safety education for students in grades Kindergarten through 5 at a districtwide Bicycle Rodeo. By navigating through various stations, students will:
- Have bicycles examined for fit and safety. Participate in bike handling drills and the simulation of traffic situations.
- Learn the importance of seeing, being seen and remaining in control at all times when riding a bike
- Learn helmet usage
- Learn basic safety strategies.
Targeting Williamsburg, York County and James City County, the mission of BikeWalk Williamsburg is educating and advocating for the creation of a Bicycle Friendly and Walking Friendly community. Although pre-registration is not required, to ensure enough materials and incentive items are available, families are asked to RSVP on the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools website (wjccschools.org).
