Turtle Census
Join the team for the annual Turtle Census project! Each summer, participants help live-capture turtles to monitor the species in local waterways and collect data on how populations are changing. No prior experience is required—VLM staff will guide everyone through each step of the project. The event is held outdoors, so it’s recommended to dress in cool clothing and bring a reusable water bottle, along with a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. The minimum age is 12, and guests under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. For more information, see here.
There are three days throughout the summer:
- Turtle Census – June 28th – 9:00 am – 11:30 am
- Turtle Census – July 19th – 9:00 am – 11:30 am
- Turtle Census – July 26th – 9:00 am – 11:30 am
