A group of Civil War soldiers escape a prison camp in a balloon that carries them to a remote island populated by startling creatures and an astonishing secret. This sequel to 20,000 Leagues under the Sea stars Michael Craig, Joan Greenwood, and Michael Callan. The great Ray Harryhausen provides some marvelous creature effects. 1hr 41min
Feb. 27: The Light at the Edge of the World (1971) PG
Vicious pirates take over a remote island with plans to lure passing ships to their doom. The island’s sole surviving lighthouse keeper attempts to thwart their diabolical scheme. Kirk Douglas, Yul Brynner, and Samantha Eggar star in this action thriller based on one of Jules Verne’s darker novels. 2hrs 8min
