Sounds of Summer Concert Series: Band of Oz
May 29 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
The Annual Sounds of Summer Concert Series outdoor concert series in Yorktown is free and open to the public. Concerts run every Thursday night from May 22 through August 14. The lineup features an eclectic mix of Beach Music, Motown, Pop, and R&B.
They’re bringing back The Band of Oz! In 1967, The Band of Oz was formed, and in 1976, the band went on the road full time. They perform everything from beach music, Jimmy Buffett, and Motown. Since its creation, the band has made a name for itself throughout the Southeast. They usually headline or play all the major Beach Music festivals in the south. The band’s first recording was “Shaggin” which is still a Beach Music favorite. In 1982, the band was named “Best Group” at the Beach Music Awards, and their song “Ocean Blvd.” was voted “Best Beach” record of the year. At the 1995 CAMMY’s, “Let It Roll” became album of the year.
