“Reflections of Patrick Henry” Lecture
March 9 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
“Reflections of Patrick Henry” Lecture
Performer and interpreter Richard Shumann brings to life Patrick Henry, who reflects on his life in Williamsburg’s Capitol in 1798. At this point, Henry is nearing the end of his life during a critical time in American history. The fledgling United States is facing a moment of crisis, with the new Republic on the brink of collapse due to an epidemic, piracy, rebellion, political unrest, and even discussions of secession.
Shumann, who has portrayed Patrick Henry since 1997 with the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, is deeply familiar with the character.
The lecture is free and open to the public, presented by the York County Historical Committee.
