Naturally Speaking: Dr. Michael Rutkowski – The First Century of Astrophysics
Astronomy is often called the “first science,” but it’s astrophysics that has truly changed our understanding of the universe. In the past century, we’ve uncovered amazing details about the universe’s history, structure, and composition. Thanks to powerful scientific instruments, these discoveries have accelerated dramatically. In this lecture, key concepts in astrophysics will be introduced, including major shifts in how we view the cosmos. The audience will also explore the role of space telescopes like Hubble and James Webb in studying the formation of massive galaxies and the influence of smaller galaxies on cosmic evolution. Looking ahead, the exciting future of new astrophysical observatories and the role of machine learning in driving breakthroughs in astrophysics will be discussed. This event is part of the Naturally Speaking VLM Series. For more information, see here.
