Gaming, the Worst Diversion
Gaming has often been associated with gambling and idleness, but in the 18th century, composers and writers embraced it as a creative tool for education—with great success. Join Kyle Collins of Governor’s Musick as he explores the music behind two 18th-century games: a Goose-like board game designed to guide young ladies toward marriage and a musical dice game once owned by Thomas Jefferson. Admission to Colonial Williamsburg is required. For more information, see here.
