Drop-In Photo Identification Sessions
Albert Durant, the first licensed Black photographer in Williamsburg, captured many aspects of Black daily life in Williamsburg between the late 1930s and early 1960s. His photos also include documentation of the broader community including businesses, schools, churches, organizations, sports teams, and nightclubs.
John D. Rockefeller Jr Library | 313 First St.
- Thursday, February 27, 2 – 5pm
- Friday, March 21, 9am – 12 noon
- Tuesday, April 15, 3 – 6pm
Participate in photo identification sessions to help the library associate more names, places, and events with recently digitized images in the Albert Durant Photography Collection that have little or no identification information.
Coffee and tea will be served, and participants can look through identification notebooks or examine photos projected onto a large screen.
If you cannot attend in-person, a selection of over one thousand of the photos are online at bit.ly/RockLib.
