Burning of the Socks
May 3 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Burning of the Socks
Celebrate the arrival of spring with a fun and unique paddling tradition on the Chesapeake Bay. Inspired by a sailor’s custom near Annapolis, guests will take part in a symbolic sock-burning—no need for socks once the water shoes go on! Participants are asked to bring a pair of natural fiber socks to add to the ritual fire. Afterward, everyone is invited to join the season’s first canoe and kayak paddle. Cost is $9 per person for canoes or $6 per person for families of four or more. Solo kayaks are $16 per person, and tandem kayaks are $11 per person. Reservations and prepayment are required.
