March 11: Pride and Prejudice (1940) NR Greer Garson and Lawrence Olivier star in this glossy version of Jane Austen’s most famous book about five sisters in search of husbands in Regency England. Directed by Robert Z. Leonard, the screenplay was written by Aldous Huxley. 1hr 58min
In honor of Austen’s 250th birthday, there will be a small party with cake and coffee after the film.
March 18: Sense and Sensibility (1995) PG Emma Thompson leads a stellar cast in this excellent version of Jane Austen’s novel. Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, and Alan Rickman costar under the direction of Ang Lee. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards, with Emma Thompson winning the Oscar for best screenplay. 2hrs 16min
March 25: Persuasion (1995) PG At the behest of her family, a young woman rejects the proposal of the man she loves. Eight years later, they are reunited. Can the spark of love be rekindled?
