Archaeology Tour: Custis Square

Join a guided tour of Custis Square, where archaeologists are excavating the four-acre property of John Custis IV. Discover insights into his life in the burgeoning capital city of Williamsburg and uncover what previous excavations have revealed about this wealthy statesman. Engage with archaeologists on-site to learn about the current excavation and what it reveals about Custis’s garden landscape and the enslaved men and women who built and maintained it.

Tours are at:
9:30 am – 10:30 pm
11:00 am – 12:00 pm
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm


Site tours meet at the corner of Francis and Nassau Streets and last approximately one hour. Open to visitors of all ages.  Your day ticket, annual pass or good neighbor pass will get you in for no additional charge. More Info
