Your Christmas Town Questions…Answered: Part One
The following is an excerpt from Busch Garden’s blog where they answer readers questions about Christmas Town ticket prices and more!
“Why is Christmas Town considered a “separate-ticketed event”?
Since Christmas Town started in 2009, it has always been positioned as a special event and required a separate admission. I was fortunate to be part of the team that developed Christmas Town, and we studied Christmas events at other theme parks around the world. (Another perk of the job: I got to visit a park in Sweden, Liesberg Park, that has a phenomenal event that provided inspiration for several elements of Christmas Town.) What we learned was there generally are two ticketing approaches parks have found successful. Some charge their full regular admission and operate the holiday event as an overlay to their regular operation (similar to how we do Howl-O-Scream), and others offer the Christmas event separate from normal operations with a special admission price. We chose to take the latter approach, mostly because our weather during this time would greatly limit our normal operations.
Because of the special nature of this event, the ticket price has always been a fraction of the normal Busch Gardens admission. Even as we have expanded hours and grown to encompass nearly the entire park, the event admission is less than half of a normal Busch Gardens ticket.
Why do pass members have to pay for Christmas Town when they already have paid for a pass?
Our pass members are very important to us, and their support is critical to the success of Christmas Town. We have made sure they have the best everyday deals to enjoy this event, including one-day tickets.
The fact is, our annual passes have always included unlimited admission during our regular operating days and have never included Christmas Town. This distinction has always been spelled out when someone buys a pass.
