Finnegan’s Flyer & Cutback Coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg
2019 is going to be a great year to visit Busch Gardens and Water Country in Williamsburg, VA. Each park is opening a new ride this Spring! Busch Gardens will unveil a swing ride called Finnegan’s Flyer™ and Water Country USA will debut Cutback Water Coaster™, Virginia’s first hybrid water coaster.
Finnegan’s Flyer – Opening May 3
Busch Gardens’ new ride Finnegan’s Flyer™ is a swing ride like you’ve never experienced. Featuring two pendulum like arms, 32 riders fly higher and higher with each swing eventually reaching a height of 80 feet and a speed of 45 mph! The swings will actually go beyond 90 degrees, so riders will feel that drop the same as a roller coaster. Because you’re so high up riders will be able to take in beautiful views of the park…well those that can keep their eyes open. The saying around the park is “only the bravest will prevail”.
The location of the ride is in Ireland. Suzy Cheely, Senior Leader of Design and Engineering at Busch Gardens said the site was “anything but flat” and was challenging. The deck was built on a foundation 30′ above grade. So some guests, depending on their location on the ride, could be looking down 110′ at the height of the ride. Must be 48″ to ride.

Cutback Water Coaster – OPENS May 24!
Water Country USA is unveiling Cutback Water Coaster™, the only RocketBLAST coaster on the East Coast and Virginia’s first hybrid water coaster! That’s right this feels like a roller coaster but you’re actually on a 4 person raft!
Jets propel the raft as it travels up and down the steep tubes including 5 wide open saucers that will have your stomach dropping as you race along the edges. INSIDER TIP…if you want to get extremely wet grab the last seat on the raft!
