Busch Gardens Williamsburg will open Pantheon in the Spring of 2020 and it is going to be THRILLING!! The newest roller coaster at Busch Gardens is the fastest multi-launch coaster in the World and only the third to use a fast track switch during the ride!
Kevin Lembke, president of Busch Gardens Williamsburg said “The switch track has only been used a couple time in the World, once in China and once at Universal Studios in Florida.”
A fast track switch is a switch in the track sort of like a train track switch. The track moves laterally switching from a banked track to a level track, this switch happens in approximately 2 seconds.
Pantheon features 4 launches, reaches top speed of 73 mph, contains 2 inversions (track turns riders upside-down), a 95 degree drop, 178 reverse spike and 15 air time elements going sideways, forwards and BACKWARDS!
The ride lasts about 150 seconds. The height requirement is 52″ which is the same as Apollo’s Chariot. There will be 2 comfy open passenger trains that will hold 20 people with at dispatch speed of 80 seconds!
The ride is completely custom, designed with the terrain and topography in mind. Not only are the elements on this ride wild but the layout is wicked too. The tracks crisscross as well as run along close to the ground.
There will be 5 seconds where you will be completely floating weightlessly just like in Finnegan’s Flyer (only it will last slightly longer on Pantheon). You will be at the height of the ride for this experience!
The “Top Hat” feature of Pantheon is amazing because as you come down the track goes inward. There is also a section where you will be speeding along upside downalmost horizontal to the ground which will be racing by underneath you.
Pantheon will be a destination coaster for enthusiasts and a feather in the cap of Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Pantheon is projected to open Spring 2020 and is is an exciting addition to Busch Gardens!
