BUSCH GARDENS WILLIAMSBURG, with the support of BOB CLINE CASTING, is seeking vibrant, energetic, and enthusiastic vocalists and dancers for its collection of world-class spring season productions. We are seeking a few triple threat performers, but mostly strong actor/singers and dancer/actors. Performers of all ethnicities are strongly encouraged to attend. Award-winning creative team members come from Broadway, Hollywood, and London’s West End Theatres. The highly acclaimed shows have the spirit, energy, and production values of Broadway-style musicals. Shows perform 4 to 6 times daily.
- You must be available for all scheduled rehearsal and performance dates.
- Rehearsals begin as early as March 1, 2016
- Rehearsals may be scheduled from March 1, 2016 to March 24, 2016 any day of the week
- The shows open March 25, 2016 and run through September 5, 2016
- Seeking the following Vocalist roles:
- HANS – PRINCIPAL ROLE Can play Mature. Big loud fun personality, comedic, charming, unique character type. An exceptional voice is necessary, styles range from Broadway to Pop. Must have strong comedic chops, improvisation skills. Must move very well. Vocal Range: Baritone to F
- PETER – PRINCIPAL ROLE Can play late teen to early 20’s. Boyishly cute with charming personality and a very natural ease and affability. An exceptional voice is necessary, styles range from Broadway to Pop. MUST move very well. Dance (partnering), acro and special skills (tumbling, juggling, impersonations, etc) a plus. Must be able to deliver comedic bits throughout the show. Vocal Range: Tenor with strong belt to A.
- LUDWIG – PRINCIPAL ROLE Can play 20’-30s. Handsome, charming, muscular with big personality. An exceptional voice is necessary, styles range from Broadway to Pop. MUST move very well. Dance (partnering), acro and special skills (tumbling, juggling, impersonations, etc) a plus. Must be able to deliver comedic bits throughout the show. Vocal Range: Bari-Tenor to G.
- LIESL – PRINCIPAL ROLE Can play 20’s. Sweet, naturally charming, alluring ingénue type with big personality and an exceptional voice. Styles range from Broadway to Pop. Must deliver comedic bits throughout the show. Must move well, dance (partnering) and special skills (tumbling, twirling, impersonations, magic) a plus. Vocal Range: Soprano, mix/belt to D or E
- INNKEEPER – PRINCIPAL ROLE The proprietor of the Celtic Fyre Inn. Strong, mature personality and charisma with a bit of Irish charm. Must move well. Strong Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Tenor with a strong belt and sustained G5.
- TOMMY Strong, comedic personality and charisma with a bit of Irish charm. Must move well. Strong Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Baritone with a strong belt.
- TONY/INNKEEPER COVER Strong, comedic personality and charisma with a bit of Irish charm. Must move well. Strong Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Tenor with a strong belt.
- MAUREEN Maternal with a strong presence. Comedic timing a plus. Must move well. Lyrical style voice. Vocal Range: Mezzo Soprano with a sustained E5.
- FRANKIE Warm, friendly, charming with a strong presence. Comedic timing a plus. Must move well. Broadway style voice. Vocal Range: Alto
- MALE SWING VOCALIST – PRINCIPAL ROLE Must be able to learn and play all male singer roles (up to 8 parts) to cover all mainstage shows. Exceptional singer with great presence. Must move very well. Proficiency in basic keyboard and reading music a plus. Vocal Range: Tenor with strong belt and sustained G5.
- FEMALE SWING VOCALIST – PRINCIPAL ROLE Must be able to learn and play all female singer roles (up to 8 parts) to cover all mainstage shows. Exceptional singer with great presence and comedic timing. Must move very well. Proficiency in basic keyboard and reading music a plus. Vocal Range: Versatile Mezzo with top note: E5
- Seeking the following Dancer roles:
- MALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS Seeking very dynamic, unique, excellent athletic dancers. Must have strong technique and sense of style. Partnering and lift experience, tumbling, circus and special skills a plus. Males should bring jazz shoes.
- FEMALE ENSEMBLE DANCERS Seeking very dynamic, unique, excellent athletic dancers. Should have strong technique and sense of style. Partnering and lift experience, tumbling, circus and special skills a plus. Females should bring heels and flats.
- MALE/FEMALE AMERICAN TAPPERS – PRINCIPAL DANCER The American friends of the bride who bring a whole different beat to the party. Seeking very dynamic unique tappers with a strong sense of style, technique, and flair.
- FEMALE SWING DANCER – PRINCIPAL ROLE Seeking very dynamic, unique, excellent athletic dancers. Should have strong technique and sense of style. Partnering and lift experience, tumbling, circus and special skills a plus. Must be able to learn and play all female dancer roles to cover all mainstage shows. 5’6” or taller. Females should bring heels and flats.
- MALE SWING DANCER- PRINCIPAL ROLE Seeking very dynamic, unique, excellent athletic dancers. Must have strong technique and sense of style. Partnering and lift experience, tumbling, circus and special skills a plus. Must be able to learn and play all male dancer roles to cover all mainstage shows. 5’8” or taller. Males should bring jazz shoes.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $14.32 an hour
Prepare for the Audition
Vocalists:
- Prepare two separate vocal selections, an up tempo and a ballad. Contemporary Broadway or pop work best for our audition team. Pick the best 16 bars of each. Remember that we’re not just looking for good vocalists. We need singers who can really tell a story. Do your very best to know the story behind the words you’re singing and convey that in your audition.
- We’ll provide an accompanist for all vocal auditions. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. Singing to a recorded track (CD, tape, etc.) is not permitted.
- In addition to your prepared pieces, we may ask you to learn additional music or a movement combination.
- Please bring your vocal selection book into the audition in case the casting team would like to hear additional options.
- Auditioning can be a lengthy process; you may be asked to stay for a callback.
- Prepare a resume and headshot, which will be retained by the audition team.
- If you wish to dance, please come prepared. Dancer auditions are held separately from vocalist auditions and have different requirements.
Dancers:
- You will be taught a brief dance combination. Please arrive on time to learn and perform for the panel.
- Auditioning can be a lengthy process; you may be asked to stay for a callback.
- Please arrive early enough to stretch and warm up before the audition begins.
- Please wear form fitting dance attire that allows a full range of movement. Bring ballet shoes, jazz shoes and/or character heels, and wear the appropriate footwear for each combination and/or the role for which you are auditioning.
- Prepare a resume and headshot, which will be retained by the audition team.
- If you wish to sing, please come prepared. Vocalist auditions are held separately from dancer auditions and have different requirements.
