Mattaponi Winery is a small family-owned winery in the heart of Spotsylvania County that, for the last 20 years, has used their passion for making a variety of wonderful wines. They are known for more than just wine. Originally, the log cabin in the vineyards was built by their family and friends as they started a Christmas tree farm. The perfectly shaped White Pine and Norway Spruce trees are for sale in the November and December. After you pick your tree, go in and warm up next to the fireplace in the tasting room with a nice warm glass of wine with mulling spices or hot chocolate.

Democracy Vineyards is located in gorgeous Nelson County, Virginia. Once a vibrant apple operation, a portion of the orchard has been cleared and planted with six varietals for wine grape production. Democracy Vineyards will also remain an active “Ginger Gold” apple operation.

Saude’ Creek is a privately owned and operated vineyard and winery located on the Pamunkey River in historic New Kent County, Virginia. The climate and mineral-rich clay soils of the Tidewater area contribute to the complex, food-friendly wines. The site once boasted Frank’s Tavern, a Colonial inn and public house for wayfarers riding between points north or west and the Colonial capitol of Williamsburg. George Washington and the French General Rochambeau, among other patriots and notables of the time, reputedly slaked their thirst here.

Located on approximately 100 acres in Kilmarnock, Good Luck Cellars was established in 2004 and now has over 12 acres under vine. Ground breaking on a production facility and tasting room began in the spring of 2010.

Vault Field Vineyards is located on historic Vault Field Farm near the town of Kinsale, in the heart of Virginia’s Northern Neck. Its award winning wines are the result of a marriage between an exceptional terroir and the latest techniques in viticulture. Vault Field believes fine wines are made in the vineyard. The care of the vines is yearlong, starting with hand pruning during winter months. Next comes hand weeding and continued pruning during the growing season. Finally, in late fall, when the grapes ripen, Vault Field hand picks and sorts the individual grapes to produce high quality, premium wines.

Belle Mount was founded in 2002, located between 2 historic mounts, Grove Mount and Mount Airy. Belle Mount is the “Beautiful Hill” between them, overlooking the Rappahannock River and Cat Point Creek. It has blossomed into a small, super-premium winey that focuses on small lots of handcrafted, vineyard-designated varietals. They grow many European grape varieties, a few hybrids and of course the historic American grape Norton, originally discovered in Richmond. Their Chardonnay, Merlot and Cab Franc are their most popular fine wines.

James River Cellars is a family owned and operated winery offering award-winning wines from Virginia grapes. Their award winning whites, reds and notable Civil War-labeled wines will be available. Made with 100 percent Virginia grapes, their boutique-style reds and whites reflect the discerning and quality craftsmanship of their experienced winemaker. Their vineyards (located in nearby Montpelier, VA) produce a bounty of varietals including Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and the ever-so-difficult Gewurztraminer – the grape on which James River Cellars Winery was founded.

Athena VineyardsAthena Vineyards & Winery, located on the Great Wicomico River, was established in 2002 by three Nurses who enjoy healthy lifestyles, working in the vineyard and the finer things in life. Athena has become the first commercial vineyard and winery in Northumberland County and received the ‘People’s Choice Award’ in the Virginia Farm Wineries Council competition for its Safe Harbor wine. They will be featuring, among others, Athena’s White, a crisp blend of Vidal blanc and Seyval blanc grapes, designed for typical Chesapeake Bay seafood, Athena’s Rose, a summer blush wine for outdoor cooking with red meat or poultry and Cabernet Franc, a light red wine, aged in French oak which pairs well with spicy dishes, as well as beef, pork, lamb, poultry and game.

Delfosse Vineyards & Winery is one of the newest wineries in Virginia. Nestled in a quiet valley, at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville, it has one of the only terraced vineyards in the state with an elevation to guarantee flavorful wines. Delfosse will be featuring a balanced portfolio of blends and pure vintages – some fun, some sophisticated, appealing to a wide variety of palettes and consumers.

The wines of The Dog and Oyster Vineyard are crafted to be paired with Oysters – the only vineyard in America doing so, and at the festival, you’ll find their culinary partner nearby (Byrd’s Seafood Company) serving a variety of them! This metal winning vineyard had garnered 14 metals at 2 wine competitions in the last 3 years and will be presenting 5 of their wines at the festival; Oyster White, Pearl (Vidal Blanc), Shelter Dog Red (Chambourdin), Merlot, and ‘Rosie’ (Rose), all of 2013 and 2014 vintage.
