4-H Chrysanthemum Project for Kids 9-18
York-Poquoson 4-H Chrysanthemum Project Registration Open
Registration is open for the 4-H Chrysanthemum Project offered by Virginia Cooperative Extension in York/Poquoson. This award-winning youth project teaches skills in growing and caring for plants as well as how to account for, market, and sell a product. Classes will be held at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Yorktown from 6 to 8 p.m. on June 13, 20, 27, July 25, with an additional date (to be determined) in August.
Participants will receive materials to grow 15 mums throughout the summer. Classes include lessons on plant care, accounting, marketing a product, and developing a business plan. Participants will have the opportunity to sell their mums at a Yorktown Market Days event in the fall. This program is open to youths in York County and Poquoson ages 9-18. Space is limited to 30 youths and there is a $20 registration fee. Please register by June 10th by calling the Extension Office at (757) 890-4940.
