4-H Archery Clubs for kids 9-18
4-H Archery Clubs
The archery clubs teach youth (ages 9-18) about the sport of archery and provide them with opportunities to practice. Lessons include range and equipment safety, eye dominance, parts of the bow, parts of an arrow, basic archery form, and development of technique. These clubs focus on basic archery techniques using traditional long bows or recurve bows; compound bows are not permitted. Equipment is provided for all club members. Both clubs meet in the late afternoon on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month (October-May). Club members have the opportunity to compete in district and state level archery competitions.
There is a $30 per person registration fee, and scholarships are available for youth with financial need. Registration is limited to 20 youth per club and is first-come-first-serve.
To register, please call the Extension office at 757-564-2170. Registered club members will receive additional information about the clubs, such as meeting times and location.
