10 year old girl grabbed by wrist by stranger in Merchants Square on Friday – police seek public’s help

A mother reported that a man grabbed her 10 year old daughter by the wrist and pulled her in Merchants Square, in Williamsburg.

This incident happened on Friday, March 5th between 6:20 pm and 6:40 pm. A 10 year old girl was sitting on a chair in Merchants Square when a man (physical description: 35 – 45 year old black male with a goatee and missing teeth wearing an all black hoodie and grayish pants – no mask) approached her.

The man was said to have grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her, the victim said that a witness ran the man off. The man then fled toward Francis Street.

The witness who ran the man off (physical description: younger than suspect, black male wearing a red/blue flannel shirt) is un identified.

Investigators are looking for information from the witness(es) to the event.

Crime Line callers do not have to give a name, and any information given that leads to an arrest may make the caller eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
